About us

A city guide for Ho Chi Minh City

Where to eat, drink and go in Ho Chi Minh City, from people who live here.

What we actually do

We keep a working record of the places worth knowing in Ho Chi Minh City: restaurants, bars, cafés, spas, gyms, studios. Every venue is tagged: what it is, which district it sits in, roughly what it costs, when it is open.

The tagging is the product. Search engines can tell you a place exists. They are much worse at telling you it is quiet enough to read in, or still serving at one in the morning, or the sort of place you would take your parents.

How a venue gets listed

  1. 1We find itFrom our own record of the city.
  2. 2We check the factsWhat it is, the district, roughly what it costs, when it's open.
  3. 3It has to pass our barA place goes live only with a photo, a map pin and a description that passes our editorial rules.

We make money from advertising that is clearly marked, never from where a place appears. How that works is on our advertising page.

We get things wrong. Places close, kitchens change hands, a room that was quiet gets a sound system. When you spot it, tell us and we will fix the entry.

Who is behind it

A small team working in Ho Chi Minh City, with local editors reviewing what we publish. If you want to work on it, or you know a corner of the city we have clearly under-covered, that is worth an email.

Saigon Insider started in February 2026. Write to us at [email protected].

Questions people ask

Who writes Saigon Insider?

A small team in Ho Chi Minh City. Venue facts come from public sources such as maps and review listings, and each description is written from those facts and checked against our editorial rules before it goes live.

Do venues pay to be listed?

No venue pays to be listed or to rank higher.

How are places chosen?

We start from the places people in the city actually search for and visit most. A place only goes live when it has a photo, a map pin and the basics: type, district, and hours where known. Then someone who knows the city decides whether it belongs.

How do you know a place is still open?

When we find a place has closed for good, it comes off the guide. If you spot one we missed, tell us and we will take it down.

Is this for tourists or residents?

Both, but we write for people who live here, or stay long enough to want more than the top ten.

How do I suggest a place or report a mistake?

Use List your venue for a new place, or the contact page to correct one. We fix entries rather than argue about them.

What we are not

A review siteWe tell you what a place is and whether it's worth the trip.
A booking platformWhen you want a table we send you to the venue rather than taking a cut on the way.
CompleteA city this size cannot be finished, and a guide that claims otherwise is padding.
